The Resident Start-Up Bootcamp & Pitch Challenge is a free program designed to help aspiring and new entrepreneurs develop ideas, build a strong business foundation, and compete for the opportunity to receive venture funding. Through hands-on training, coaching, and business development support, participants will gain the tools needed to launch and grow a successful business.

Who should apply?

This program is open to residents who:
  • Reside in Norfolk, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; Sacramento, California; or St. Louis, Missouri.
  • Have a business idea they want to explore.
  • Have recently launched a business and need guidance.
  • Want to create solutions that benefit their community.
  • Are committed to participating in the full program.

What will participants receive?

Build the skills and confidence to start your business. Participants will receive:
  • Interactive entrepreneurship training sessions.
  • Access to business development resources.
  • One-on-one coaching and technical assistance.
  • Support developing a business model and pitch.
  • Access to the USI Business Success Portal.
  • Opportunity to compete in a pitch competition for funding.
