USI CDFI Bootcamp & Challenge Powered by Wells Fargo
Program Overview
The USI CDFI Bootcamp & Challenge is a free business development program designed to help entrepreneurs strengthen and grow existing for-profit businesses. Through expert-led training, one-on-one coaching, peer collaboration, and practical business planning, participants gain the knowledge, tools, and confidence to build a stronger business.
Over the course of five virtual sessions, participants explore topics including customer discovery, business strategy, financial management, funding, and pitch development. Those who successfully complete the program earn a USI Small Business Certificate, and eligible participants may choose to compete in their local Pitch Challenge for the opportunity to receive business funding.

Live in a participating USI community
Own a legally registered, for-profit business (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, or DBA), or willing to work with USI staff to complete business registration before the Pitch Competition

More Than a Bootcamp
Eligible participants will have the opportunity to showcase their business in the USI CDFI Pitch Challenge, where entrepreneurs compete for business funding and gain valuable exposure.
Up to $50,000 in funding available
*$200,000 awarded across four participating communities
Program Snapshot

| Format | 100% virtual, allowing you to participate from anywhere with a reliable internet connection. |
| Schedule | Five weekly sessions held over approximately 2.5 months, with each session lasting 60–90 minutes. |
| Cost* | There is no cost to participate. The program is fully funded for accepted participants. *Business registration may involve licensing, permit, or other required fees. USI CDFI will provide technical assistance to help entrepreneurs understand and navigate the registration process. |
| Certificate | Participants who successfully complete the program will earn a USI Small Business Certificate. |
| Pitch Opportunity | Participants will develop a business pitch throughout the program and may choose to compete in their local Pitch Challenge. |

What to Expect
The USI CDFI Business Bootcamp is designed to give selected entrepreneurs practical, hands-on support to strengthen their businesses and prepare for the Pitch Challenge.
Five Sessions for a Stronger Business
Over the course of five Bootcamp sessions, participants will work alongside business experts to strengthen key areas of their business, build their pitch, and prepare to compete.
Participants should come prepared to actively engage in each session and complete work between sessions as needed to put what they learn into practice.
Attendance matters. Participants must attend at least 4 of the 5 sessions (80%) to remain eligible for the Pitch Challenge. Entrepreneurs who attend all 5 sessions (100%) will earn additional points toward their final Pitch Challenge score.
